In 2015, Mecklenburg County celebrated its 200th anniversary. To mark the year long celebration, the Museum commissioned an exhibit that traces the relationship between the roaring Roanoke River and the town of Clarksville. The story begins with a look at the town's early history as a Native American outpost.

The narrative continues through the town's heday as the tobacco capital of Virginia, and concludes with a modern day tribute to this "rebound town" as it seeks to reinvent itself as a destination for tourists, and outdoor adventurers.
